JUA (DY-U-AH) is Swahili for Sun. I was born in Tanzania, Africa where the weather is always hot and sunny. Growing up, I was always called a ball of sunshine because although I was considered to be plus-sized, I never let other people taunting me put me down. The concept of JUA is the feeling of home being modernized and suitable for all ethnicities, shapes and sizes. 

 

When I was five years old, my family moved to Canada, where I first learned of different cultures, this made me want to show the everyone what my family was all about. As I grew older, I gained interest in clothing and took the Fashion Design & Technology Program at Wilson School of Design which is now helping me to start my own brand and look.
